Innovative Train Toilet Cleaning System
I am excited to share my latest project, the Train Toilet Cleaning System, which has been selected and awarded ₹10,000 for development. This innovative solution has also garnered positive attention from press reporters.
Project Overview
The Train Toilet Cleaning System is designed to automatically clean railway stations by addressing the issue of waste disposal from train toilets. Often, individuals use train toilets while the train is stationed, causing the platform to get dirty and incurring additional cleaning costs for the government. My project provides a solution to keep the stations clean.
How It Works
- Transmitter and Receiver: Installed on both the train and the station.
- Automatic Waste Collection: When the train enters the station, a container positions itself beneath all train toilets to collect waste.
- Waste Disposal: After the train leaves the station, the containers return to their original positions. The driver can then use a control room switch to dump the waste at a designated location where the containers will clean themselves automatically.
Materials Required
- Relay Module
- ICs
- Resistors
- Plywood
- Hyllen Sheet
- Fevicol
- 10 RPM Gear Motors (x2)
- Various other electronic components
Assembly Instructions
- Build the Circuit: Create a four-relay module on a zero PCB using a toy DC motor and install two limit switches.
- Design the Circuit Diagram: Utilize software like Fritzing.
- Install Transmitters and Receivers: Place the transmitters on the train and the receivers at the station.
Functionality
As the train enters the station, the transmitter and receiver system triggers the container to collect waste from the train toilets. When the train exits, the containers retract. The waste is then dumped at a designated location controlled by the train driver, ensuring the station remains clean.
Real-Life Applications
This system prevents railway tracks at stations from becoming dirty, reducing cleaning costs and improving overall hygiene.
Cost
The total cost for developing this system is approximately ₹8700.
Technical Details
The system operates on the principle of infrared (IR) transmission. When the IR transmitter emits radiation, it reflects off objects and is received by the IR receiver. Based on the received radiation intensity, the output is defined, facilitating the automatic control of waste collection and disposal.
